Nintendo of Japan released a special video highlighting major elements to the upcoming 3DS title Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World. This game is a 3DS port from the Wii U version but it has some special elements that version does not have. One being, well, in the title itself! Poochy is a major character that has his own special stages you can play but as you play through the game, you can unlock skins for him. It is a nice feature and with how many Yoshi could unlock in the original Wii U release, Poochy might have a lot of costumes to pick from.
But new costumes are being added to the 3DS version and the game supports Amiibo’s like the Wii U release. Meaning, you could scan in any Amiibo and you get a unique pattern for Yoshi. In the 3DS version, all of the newer amiibo’s from the The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing lines will have costumes Yoshi can unlock if you scan in the Amiibo (either through the touch screen on New 3DS or special adapter for other 3DS models).
The game is releasing in Japan with a special bundle that contains the game and a giant plush Poochy amiibo, releasing in January 2017. With a release date so early in the year, it is safe to expect a NA/EU release sometime in before Summer lands.
