With the announcement of Lego Dimensions Year 2 after the fall of Disney Infinity early this year, it was clear that WB Games and Travelers Tales still saw major potential for this genre of gaming and wants to continue supporting it. But they stated an official comment on this matter as well.

WB Games president David Haddad said of the company’s commitment to toys-to-life:
“We still view [toys to life] as a large and important category for us to participate in. We still view it, even though there are changes to the structure of the industry, as a very large category.”
Regarding year two of LEGO Dimensions, Haddad mentioned that Warner Bros. is “staying away from dead-ends and barriers.” Consumers won’t need to pick up a new Starter Pack, and all of the new packs coming out are compatible with the original game.

This implies that the genre is a huge market still and they want to continue being a part of it. Lego Dimensions Year 2 will have four more waves of content releasing from Fall 2016 up too Summer 2016, with over 16 new IP joining the game such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Gremlins, Harry Potter, and Ghostbusters (2016). It is releasing this Fall with Wave 6; containing a story pack (Full LEGO game inside Dimensions), various team and level packs from Adventure Time, A-Team and Mission Impossible, and more.
