The Nintendo NES Mini platform releasing this fall one would imagine is re-purposed Wii hardware but locked on the NES emulation we saw from that systems Vitirual Console service, but that is not the case. Nintendo European Research & Development (NERD) are the minds behind the systems operating system and emulation. They have a long track record of working on Nintendo technology.

NERD’s previous works include:
– development of “super-stable 3D”/face tracking system for New Nintendo 3DS
– enabling support for digital releases of Wii games on Wii U eShop
– video player for the Wii U internet browse

They have a great track record and resume of past Nintendo hardware/software. Its great to see them take the time to ensure the NES Mini is a successful product regarding the software side of the platform.
