The PlayStation VR has had a successful launch so far, with many gamers interested in the hardware alongside a very strong launch line up supporting the device. But is it giving Sony a lot of money? It seems so.
Released today, Sony is already selling its PlayStation VR unit at a profit, according to Sony Interactive Entertainment President Shawn Layden. “We’re making money on the VR console,” Layden told Polygon, though he didn’t elaborate much further. Similarly, the PlayStation 4 was profitable for Sony less than a year after its release in 2013.
This is good news, as it shows how successful PS VR could be in the future.
