Square Enix had a big year in 2017, with many major releases from both it’s Western branches (Hitman, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Lara Croft & Hitman GO Console Ports, Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4) and Japanese studios (World of Final Fantasy, FFXV, Dragon Quest Builders, Star Ocean 5). But 2017 marks the anniversary of Final Fantasy as an entire series…..and Square has big plans to celebrate.

Square Enix will announce its plans for Final Fantasy‘s 30th anniversary soon, Square Enix’s Shinji Hasjimoto said in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu. The news comes via a feature this week where Famitsu seeks out answers to questions from developers about certain expectations for 2017. So far, the only anniversary plan announced by Square Enix is a Final Fantasy XIV-themed real escape game opening across several Zepp locations in Japan starting February 10.
Final Fantasy will celebrate its 30th anniversary on December 18, 2017.

Nothing is announced for the Anniversary thus far outside of some key releases like the Final Fantasy XII HD Remaster and hopefully the 2017 release FFVII Episode/Part I.
