Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – No New Race Tracks Confirmed by Japanese Presentation

Mario Kart 8 is drifting to the Nintendo Switch with new characters and a heavily modified battle mode but what about single player racing? If you own a Wii U and have the game already, this might be some bad news; no new race tracks are coming to the game.
Confirmed during the Japanese Switch Presentation, the Deluxe Edition of MK8 will only have the race tracks from the base game and the DLC that released. It is a shame, as the lack of a Splatoon race track feels glaring considering The Legend of ZeldaExcitebike, F-Zero and Animal Crossing got race tracks in the game through DLC. But the improved battle mode, new karts/bikes and characters could make it a worthwhile deal still if you have the Wii U version.
As someone who never owned a Wii U or MK8, the Deluxe Edition still looks like a great value and it seems that Nintendo is mainly targeting non-Wii U owners with this release. Credit goes out to GameXplain for originally reporting on this news.
