DF Retro kicks off in 2017 with a massive episode focusing on one of gaming’s most iconic shooter Halo: Combat Evolved for the original Xbox and developed by talented studio Bungie.

On this episode of DF Retro, John delves into Bungie’s seminal Halo: Combat Evolved. Starting with a look back at the history of Bungie, John takes a close look at Halo itself including the technology powering it and the smart design choices made during its production. We also take a look at real performance numbers in each of its single player and multiplayer modes. Then it’s off to compare the original Xbox game against other released ports including those on PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

This video was great to watch, as it details not just the technologies powering Halo but Bungie’s history in game development. They come from humble origins and continued to make great titles on the Mac before the historical moment where Microsoft purchased the studio in the early 2000’s.
Today they make the Destiny series but Halo was a franchise they worked hard on for many years before leaving Microsoft after the release of Halo Reach. Hearing about the many versions of Halo was quite interesting and I highly recommend you watch the above video for some important gaming history.
