Nintendo is very protective of there franchises, even if they are known to mismanage a few of them. Metroid is a famous example, with Federation Force having an interesting history.
Both AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) and Pokemon Uranium were nominated for best fan creation award but Nintendo removed those choices from the poll. Instead, they got replaced with Brutal Doom 64 and Enderal: The Shards of Order. This is nice that those two games are getting the chance to get an reward, but it is another example of Nintendo’s troubled relations with the fan community.
In the face of SEGA’s support of the Sonic Fan Community over the years, this is all the more interesting to see unfold. Something worth noting is that id Software is very happy Brutal Doom 64 is nomiated for the show.
