Digital Foundry – Assassins Creed: The Ezio Collection PS4 Pro/PS4 Analysis
Digital Foundry take some time to discuss the Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection and how the collection fares on PS4 and PS4 Pro. Both systems run the game at a locked 30FPS which ensures that they play smoother compared to the PS3/360 originals; the PS3/360 versions suffered from screen tearing and frame drops at a view points. A more stable frame rate ensures that the world is more enjoyable to explore, making it one improvement this collection offers.
But the major element of the collection is native 4K resolution support across all three games on PS4 Pro and out of the three games, AC Revelations works with this mode the best. Having the highest quality texture work and animations, Revelations looks fantastic in 4K based on Digital Foundry’s analysis. The other games look fine in 4K mode as well but due to being based on early versions of the AC engine, they are a bit dated in some respects visually.
Sadly none of the game support super-sampling on PS4 Pro, which can be an issue for some people. You don’t even get higher frame rates when rendering the game in 1080p mode on PS4 Pro. At the very least though, the game runs great across both PS4 and PS4 Pro.
