Pokemon has a large collection of creatures to catch and with over 600 of them, it’s hard to know them all by name. But one iconic characters is famous above them all; Pikachu. The mascot of the Pokemon series, the little electric mouse has had a huge role in helping the brand become what it is today. With the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, Did You Know Gaming decided to a look at some facts, secrets, Easter eggs and history of Pikachu. Pikachu was designed by Game Freak’s Atsuko Nishida and illustrated by Ken Sugimori. Pikachu’s first appearance was in Pokemon Red and Blue (Red and Green in Japan) for the original Nintendo Game Boy.
Pikachu has received a lot of public attention, and has appeared on airplanes, as a balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and even as an official representative for Japan’s soccer team during the 2014 World Cup.
