Nintendo’s systems always have some interesting history behind them and the N64 is no exception to this rule. Going through many delays and hardware add-ons that became vaporware, it’s a console with quite the history. With the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some trivia, secrets, Easter eggs and history of the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 was Nintendo’s third home console for the international market, and was home to some of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, including Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Code-named Project Reality, and originally titled the Ultra 64, the Nintendo 64’s launch was delayed several times until 1996. Through our analysis of the system’s history, the gameplay of its games and their beta builds, we hope to bring you some little-known facts of the N64.
