Nintendo Download for 3/2/2017 – The Launch of a Switch
Nintendo is launching the Switch tomorrow and they have a lot coming out. Below will be the entire list from Nintendo’s press release but the company has a better launch line up then originally expected. Digital software like Fast RMX, I Am Setsuna, and Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment are helping fill out the voids originally missing from it’s launch.

Another Disney XD Show (Upcoming ‘DuckTales’) Confirmed for a New Season
We just posted an article covering the ‘First Look’ video Disney put out for DuckTales (2017) but some great news just came up regarding the show. Similar to Star Vs. The Forces of Evil, not even before it premiered it’s getting a second season!
DuckTales! Wooo! The classic series you know and love is coming to Disney XD this summer, and we have some excellent news: Disney XD has already ordered a second season of the show! Even though season one has yet to air, we are incredibly excited to hear this news, especially because the cast is amazing.
This is great news, as it will allow the creative team working on the show to not feel pressured and give them lots of room for great stories to be told.

Disney XD – DuckTales First Look (New Series)
When Disney announced a while back that the Disney Afternoon Classic DuckTales is coming back in a new series, many were very excited. Sharing the art style seen in the recent Mickey Mouse shorts, the iconic cast returns to go on new adventures across Duckberg once again.
A first look at the all-new family comedy-adventure series “DuckTales” premiering this summer on Disney XD. The series stars David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck; Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan as the voices of Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively; Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack; Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack and Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and will follow the epic family of ducks on their high-flying adventures around the world.
From the First Look video (which you can watch above) it seems that Huey/Dewey/Louie are quite different with their personalities, Donald Duck will have a major role in the show, and Scrooge is taking care of the boy’s after going on adventures of his own. Webby is also part of the show early on and she looks to be a great addition to the core cast; her humor is quite funny and she bounces off the Huey/Dewey/Louie quite well.
I’m personally very excited for the show and will report more once further information releases.
Digital Foundry – Resogun PS4 Pro: Comparison & Frame Rate Test
Arguably the best PS4 launch title gets a Pro patch – it runs at native 4K and it matches performance of the 1080p original point for point.
One of the earliest PS4 releases got a Pro patch recently and Digital Foundry dives into the pixel-filled realm of Resogun to find out how the game runs in it’s Pro mode. From the footage, it seems the game runs quite well on 4K and it shows how it’s developers push PS4 Hardware quite far. The fact this still looks great despite being a launch title shows how much effort and care went into Resogun’s graphics.
Flipping Death Announced – Nintendo Switch Trailer & Press Release
From the makers of Stick it to the Man, comes another wacky adventure using an creative art style and charming humor. Using possession mechanics and platforming, it seems to be a blend of a 2D action/adventure game with puzzle game design. I liked what I saw and the humor is a big part of that. It feels very close to a cartoon (reminded me of Invader Zim or The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) and that will help gamers connect to the game’s world more.
We will be reporting on this title as further information releases.

Runner3 – Switch Announcement Trailer & Press Release
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0no-1PENzs
Commander Video is running across to Nintendo yet again with the upcoming title Runner3 confirmed for the Switch as a console exclusive. Featuring the iconic gameplay from past titles with some new features, it looks to be the best game of it’s series.
As you may have seen in this morning’s Nintendo Direct, Runner3 is arriving later this year on the Nintendo Switch! We got our start on Nintendo platforms, and we’re incredibly excited to be continuing that legacy with Runner3! It’s going to be a perfect platform for the game in so many ways, which is something we’ll go into more detail about in the near future. In other words, we still have a few surprises in store for you all…
In the meantime, I wanted to go ahead and share the announcement trailer with you all. There’s gameplay footage, freaky cameos, hints at new gameplay features, and more! Pretty fun, right? Our goal for the game is to keep the rhythm-music gameplay of BIT.TRIP RUNNER and Runner2 intact, but throw in a few change-ups and curveballs, just for good measure.

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Natively Compatible with PC
Gaming controllers are pricey and the Switch Pro Controller is a great case for a lot of tech in one spot, but costs a lot of money. Having HD rumble and motion controls (in addition to offering larger sticks and a D-Pad) makes it a great way to play console games on the Switch but if that high price point is pushing you away, you might want to reconsider getting one.
It came out recently that it’s compatible with PC’s, as when plugged into a computer it reads the device as a gaming controller. So if you wanted a spare controller for action games or platformers on PC, the Switch Pro Controller might be a good option to look into.
PlayStation Plus (March 2017) – Tearaway Unfolded, Severed, Lumo & More
PlayStation Plus has been a service offering quality software for gamers to play across all of Sony’s platforms (PlayStation Vita, PS4, PS3) for a while now, but March seems to be one of it’s best months yet!
Games included for the month are the following.
Tearaway Unfolded (PS4)
Disc Jam (PS4)
Lumo (PS Vita, Cross Buy with PS4)
Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late (PS3)
Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3)
Severed (PS Vita)
Tearaway Unfolded (PS4), Severed (PS Vita) and Under Night (PS3) are the ‘big’ games for the month for me. Tearaway is a game I loved on the PS Vita and I hoped would be a great experience on the PS4. Now that it’s going to be free for PS4 users for a month, I highly encourage you give this game a shot. While not 1-to-1 like the PS Vita version, it still has the soul of the original Vita release.
Severed and Under Night both offer great experiences as well, with the former offering a unique take on the dungeon crawler while the later being a blend between a visual novel and fighting game.
Ys VIII – PlayStation 4 Gameplay Footage
Ys VIII is confirmed for a western release recently from NIS America but many are wondering how the PS4 version fares. Will it run better or offer extra content? It seems like the answer is yes to both, as the PS4 version will contain extra content while also running at a 60FPS frame rate.
You can see this for yourself with the above video. The game looks quite nice on PS4 and it seems like Ys VIII is a great fit on consoles. We will report more on Ys VIII as further information comes out.
Static Shock – Season One Coming to DVD via Warner Archive
DC Animation is largely connected to shows like Batman The Animated Series, Teen Titans, and Justice League. But they also produced a great show called Static Shock for the WB Kids block years ago. It focused on a super hero named Static using his electric powers to defend his home.
Time to fight the criminals and chase the bad guys! The superhero Static Shock (woo woo!) is finally coming to DVD in his first complete season. It’s been a long wait for Static Shock fans. Back in 2004, Warner DVD released a single disc of Static Shock with only six episodes. Since then, fans haven’t been able to legally obtain this complete entry of the DC animated universe, but that’s about to change.
Warner Archive, known for releasing cult favorites that might not otherwise get an official DVD set, announced that Static Shock: The Complete First Season would be released on March 28th, 2017. This release will contain the first season’s thirteen episodes on MOD (manufacture on demand) discs and will cost $24.95. No word of bonus features, but those aren’t common on Warner Archive releases.
It’s now coming to DVD in a box-set for the entire first season, which is wonderful news for fans of the series. No word on if later seasons will get the DVD treatment but it’s great the series is getting the first season on DVD in the future.
