Sonic Mania is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this Spring. Nintendo Life posted direct-feed footage of the game running on the Switch and it shows off some noteworthy elements. One being that Sonic & Tails mode is built to offer co-op gameplay that fits quite well with the dual-controllers included within the Switch. But one neat touch I felt was nice is that once you hit a Speed Shoe Monitor, Sonic gets an after-trail effect not unlike the Sonic Boost ability from Sonic Advance 2.
It is a nice visual element indicating to the player Sonic is moving faster and the power up is active outside of the speed-shoes theme playing in the background. Sonic Mania continues to impress and we will continue reporting on the game as we get closer to it’s Spring 2017 launch.
