Sonic Mania recently got a new Zone announced called Mirage Saloon and many wonder if the team is making a level re-using the ideas from Dust Hill Zone (a lost Sonic 2 Zone). But Christian Whitehead came out to say that he came up with the name of the zone.
This implies that while the zone does take inspiration from two lost Sonic zones (Desert Dazile from Sonic CD 2011 & Dust Hill from Sonic 2), it does a lot of new to make it a unique stage in the Sonic series.
