The Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie many enjoy and I fondly look back on as a Disney Classic. One interesting thing about the IP is that many wanted to use it in creative ways, as the movie was so popular, that it was a money making giant. Capcom got access to the series licence and was able to produce a game using key staff that worked on key action titles within Capcom. Do the names ‘Devil May Cry’ and ‘Viewitful Joe’ ring any bells?
Many of those people worked on the game The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie Boogies Revenge. The game is a DMC-style action game that fostered many elements that would later be used in other DMC-like games. YouTube content creator TheGamingBritShow made a video (the above one) recently about this title and it covers the games history, the people that worked on it, and it’s connections to future action titles.
