Game Informer Interview – Miyamoto & Aonuma on Training Nintendo’s Next Generation
In this interview with Game Informer, The Legend of Zelda’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto and series producer Eiji Aonuma talk about what it’s like for the legendary developers within Nintendo to work with the younger generations and what they’ve learned from each other. What lesson does Miyamoto want to impart before his eventual retirement?
Steamworld Dig 2 – Nintendo Switch Demo: Gameplay Footage
Image & Form Games headlined the Nintendo Switch indie showcase through the announcement of Steamworld Dig 2 and many got excited for another digging adventure. A playable demo was up and running, with people being able to capture footage of it in action.
It’s a short demo but one that shows a lot of promise. It indicates a heavy push toward movement being less stiff and more flowing, as platforming is far more common here then in most of the original game. The designers commented on how levels are being designed now instead of being randomly generated, so the tighter platforming could be an indication of that.
The thing that shocked me the most was a boss fight being featured in this demo. SteamWorld Dig had very few boss fights, so seeing one pop up in this demo indicates that bosses will be a common situation for your characters. Other then those two elements (platforming focus and boss fight), it seems to retain the DNA from the original but just refined.
I’m very excited about this title and we will report on this as further information releases.
Sony’s Animated ‘Spider-Man’ Movie Adds Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) as Story Contributor
Sony isn’t just working with Marvel Studios in getting Spider-Man on the big screen again with Spider-Man Homecoming but are also developing an animated film using another incarnation of Spider-Man (Miles Morales) not seen outside of some animated Spider-Man shows and the comic’s series. It looks promising due to having a lot of talented people involved (and this includes people who worked on the LEGO Movie helping with the film’s writing).
One very promising addition to the film’s team is none other then Alex Hirsch, creator of the hit Disney XD show Gravity Falls, is helping out as a Story Contributor.
Alex Hirsch, creator of the Disney XD series “Gravity Falls,” has been added as a story contributor to Sony’s “Spider-Man” animated feature, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
The new film is set to feature Miles Morales as webslinger instead of Peter Parker, marking the big-screen introduction of Marvel Comics’ black and Puerto Rican Spider-Man.

Celeste – Nintendo Switch Gameplay (Hard Mode)
Platformers are going to have quite the lovely home on the Nintendo Switch, as one of the many confirmed for the system includes the title Celeste. This 2D platformer focuses on your character preforming tight platforming challenges using jumping and dashing in creative fashion. Other gimmicks seen in the video include areas that increase your travel distance with your dash and clones that follow you.
I loved what I saw and I cannot wait for more information on this game. Seeing this announced for the Switch give me hope that it will be a great home for indie studios productions in the future.
Guardian’s of the Galaxy Volume 2 – New Trailer
Guardians of the Galaxy are rocking out to another adventure launching soon in theaters. But to tide the wait for it’s release, Marvel Studios and Disney released a brand new trailer. It shows off the character dynamics, some great jokes and is further proof that the movie will likely be a fun experience. I loved the first Guardians personally and I’m very excited to see how this film plays out.
Tumbleseed – Nintendo Switch Gameplay
One of the many games announced during Nintendo’s Indie showcase was a title called Tumbleseed which has you controlling a seed through various levels. It looks like a charming puzzle title that blends action and physics elements. You can see gameplay of the title by watching the above video. It shows much promise and we will be reporting on this as further information releases.
Disney XD Renews Shows: Star Vs. The Forces of Evil (Season 4) and Milo Murphy’s Law (Season 2)
Disney XD is on fire lately, offering quality shows like Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder and Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. The later show currently wrapped up it’s second season and many were wondering when Star was going to continue her adventures for Season 3. Not only do we have an answer to that, but we also got confirmation that a fourth season is on the way. We got confirmation that Season 3 is airing this summer (likely in July or August).
In addition, the network has ordered a fourth season of Star vs. The Forces of Evil, starring Eden Sher (The Middle), ahead of its third-season premiere.
This is great news, as the creative team behind the show can plan out story maps and other plot element to ensure pacing is strong and every question is answered when everything is said and done. But Star Vs. wasn’t the only show to get a new season confirmed. Milo Murphy’s Law is a new show that launched Fall 2016 from the creative team behind Phineas and Ferb comes new show offering great laughs and charming stories. While the first season isn’t finished yet (with tons of episodes releasing in March), a second season got confirmed.
Disney XD has ordered a second season of Milo Murphy’s Law,starring Al Yankovic (aka “Weird Al”). Milo Murphy’s Law, from executive producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh (Phineas and Ferb), is an animated adventure comedy series that follows 13-year-old Milo Murphy (Yankovic), the fictional great-great-great-great grandson of the Murphy’s Law namesake.
Milo is the personification of Murphy’s Law, where anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Starring alongside Yankovic are Sabrina Carpenter (Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World) and MeKai Curtis (Disney XD’s Kirby Buckets) as Milo’s best friends Melissa Chase and Zack Underwood, respectively.
This is great news, as it shows Disney XD will continue getting quality animated shows though confidently supporting some of it’s best programs.

Nintendo Switch – Using the Touch Screen
The Nintendo switch features a touch screen that is improved over the GamePad’s one from the Wii U. But how do you use it and most importantly, what games/operations system elements can you use it with? A video game out from Switch Force showing off how you can use it for the system OS but for games like Zelda, it has no functionality.
Considering how handy it would be to use your fingers to move around the map, it’s an odd omission but more games will use the touch screen as titles come out. Skylanders Imaginators for example has support for the touch screen.
Nintendo Switch Direct (2.28.2017) – Indie Game Showcase
Nintendo is having a lot of indie releases coming to it’s upcoming Switch platform in the coming months and they recently released a press release detailing some key indie support coming to the console. This follows a major Nintendo Direct detailing key releases like Runner 3 and Yooka-Laylee getting Switch releases.
More than 60 quality indie games are confirmed for Nintendo Switch this year alone, and many games take advantage of unique Nintendo Switch features, including multiple play modes (TV mode, handheld mode, tabletop mode), flexible control options, local and online multiplayer* and innovative JoyCon functionality like HD rumble. In a Nindies Showcase video, Nintendo highlighted some of these games that are in development.
“Our Nindies Showcase gives fans a taste of some of the great content on its way to Nintendo eShop,” said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations. “We’re working with both mainstream and independent developers to make Nintendo Switch the destination for entertaining games and experiences.”

SteamWorld Dig 2 Announced – Nintendo Switch Trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u0xHuDyEgo
The digging adventures of steambots continues with Image & Form’s upcoming release just announced today. Continuing the story from SteamWorld Dig, we have a central character from that title exploring the various mines and underground to find a lost friend. With larger locations to dig through, what seems to be more platforming challenges, and impressive animation; this looks to be a great looking successor.
I personally greatly enjoyed Image & Form’s past work which includes the original SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist, so I’m excited to see this finally get announced. We will report on this more as further information releases.
