Nintendo is launching the Switch with a limited line-up of launch software (which we detailed in the past) but it might be because the console maker is playing the long game. YouTuber Arlo ponders the idea that the Switch might be a soft launch, which is defined as a gradual roll-out until everything is ready to release at a later time frame.
With the Nintendo Switch, Arlo discusses why the system fits with that description in the above video. After watching it, I agree with him in a few areas. By the end of 2017, we will see the release of major pillar releases that normally define a Nintendo system (3D Zelda, 3D Mario, Mario Kart) all within a single year. In addition, paid online isn’t launching until this fall and we are getting a gradual release of software instead of a bunch at once and months of game drought (hopefully).
We will see what happens but I enjoyed this video for bringing up a topic that is worth discussing regarding the Switch’s 2017 plans.

On the Nintendo Switch, you can pre-order a special limited edition version of Breath of the Wild. But what is in this version of the game? Is it worth getting? Mr. Aonuma answers this question by unboxing a limited edition himself in the above video! It shows off everything it contains which includes the game, music CD and stature of the Master Sword.
It seems to be a solid edition of a promising adventure. We will report more on Breath of the Wild as further information releases, so stay tuned for 3WIREL for any future updates & news!

With a new PS4 Pro enable patch releasing today, Rocket League benefits from getting higher fidelity visuals but what about the frame rate? Thankfully that has been tested and I’m happy to report that it runs at a locked 60FPS on PS4 Pro. You can see for your self with the above video but for an online focused game like this title, it’s important the frame rate is consistent and responsive.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: Voice-Work Nearing Completion

MotweraGamingLeave a Comment

Final Fantasy VII Remake feels far away despite being announced two years ago, but it’s progressing along bit by bit over recent months. One major milestone is that voice acting is nearing completion, at least for the games first episode.

As per a translation by Siliconera, Kitase had this to say: “Final Fantasy VII Remake requires hefty readiness. The voice actors are practically finished in recording voices for the main story. Fans might be picturing Cloud from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children for it, but it’s a Cloud in his ‘prime’ from before Advent Children, so you might sense a fresh new performance from it.”
We should remind everyone at this juncture that the game is being split into multiple full game sized episodes and that what Kitase is alluding to here is probably just the first part. However, it seems like things are coming along nicely.

While this is good news, we don’t know if this applies to one dub (Japan or English) or both major dubs. We will know for sure in the coming months but considering how long the game is taking, it’s great to hear that some progress is being made. Hearing voice acting is done (at least for one language track) indicates the story planning/writing for Ep. I is finished, making the game seem further along then many expect.

GameXplain recently got hands on the Nintendo Switch but in addition to a review unit, they got amiibo for the upcoming release Breath of the Wild. The game offers support for amiibo but the usage of the figures wasn’t clear. GameXplain ponders what the amiibo’s do and reads the back of the amiibo boxes to explain what they offer players when scanning them into the game.

Nickelodeon is launching a new series called Bunsen is a Beast created by Butch Hartman, which is continuing the network’s efforts in creating new animated series that appeal to both new and older viewers. In one promotional effort to highlight the new Nicktoon, we see Danny Phantom encounter Butch’s other creations including Fairly Odd Parents and T.U.F.F. Puppy in addition to a new Nicktoon.
It’s a charming little short and I was personally really happy to see Danny Phantom back again. I grew up watching that alongside shows like Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob and Avatar: The Last Airbender. So it’s great seeing older IP from Nick get some spotlight. This joins other efforts to revive older shows including the upcoming Hey Arnold and Rocko’s Modern Life hour specials releasing later this year.

Many members of the gaming press are getting access to the Nintendo Switch through review units, games and more. GameXplain is one of those groups and they informed their fans that they have the Switch. To do this, they had a lengthy video detailing everything Nintendo sent them and it’s great to see them be open about this information.
What interested me the most was how many Zelda Amiibo’s came with GameXplain’s Switch review unit, indicating that they have an important role to Breath of the Wild. Either way, it’s good to know many in the press have access to the Switch. We don’t have a Switch yet but we will inform you once/if we get one.

Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the biggest releases for the PlayStation 4 in 2017, as it’s not only an original IP from a famous studio within Sony (Guerrilla Games) but also the studios first new IP since launching Killzone for the PlayStation 2 back in 2005. Offering amazing visuals and striking art direction, many are wondering how it fares frame-rate wise.
Digital Foundry is on the case and offers a detailed video showing off how well the game runs/plays on both PS4 Pro and PS4. The end result is a game that runs very well with it being at a mostly stable 30FPS with very few drops. Resolution for the game across both platforms offers a clear image and a promise for a Performance Mode for Pro users releasing at a later date ensures it’s a great experience for both platforms.

NieR: Automata – Release Dates Come Out (PS4 March 7th, Steam March 10th)

MotweraGamingLeave a Comment

Many were wondering about the Steam version of NieR: Automata, as while it was confirmed a while back no release date was given. A recent trailer released before being taken down and Twitter user @RobotBrush was able to screen cap a major bit of information within the trailer. Basically the game is confirmed for a launch in March for both Steam (3/10) and PS4 (3/7). This is great news to hear, as people can enjoy the game on either console or PC with release dates not far from each other.
With how quiet Square Enix has been on a release date for the Steam version, it could be thought that NeiR: Automata would get a late port on Steam. Thankfully this isn’t the case and everyone can enjoy the game.
