Kingdom Hearts III – Olympus World (Hercules) Get’s New Screenshot

MotweraGamingLeave a Comment

A new screenshot for Kingdom Hearts III released today showing off Sora fighting a giant heartless using a shield-shaped Keyblade. The idea of transforming Keyblades was introduced in prior showings of Kingdom Hearts III and it’s exciting seeing the idea be present in the games current forum.
No word on a release date, possible showing or any noteworthy information but development is truckling along at the very least. While I personally doubt we will be joining Sora on a new adventure in 2017 (partially due to KH games already releasing in 2017 via the HD Collections), it’s great to see a new screenshot for this promising release.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: Two New Screenshots and Possibly Gameplay Coming Soon

MotweraGamingLeave a Comment

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a title slowly taking the place of releases like Final Fantasy XV where it was announced awhile back and many have doubts about it releasing within the next year or so. But Square Enix released some news about FFVII Remake through a few gameplay screenshots. They indicate a cover system will be present to avoid taking damage, a Kingdom Hearts-style command system where you can switch between command menus (shown through the L1/R1 icons) and the menus from FFVII PS1 being present on the right-side of the screen.

The game looks good honestly, with visual effects popping off the screen and the presentation appearing quite polished. My personal gripe isn’t even about the game at all, but the development surrounding it; many are doubtful that it will see release in 2017. But to make fans feel better, the game might be further along than many realize.

Nomura says the environment will be partly destructible. Allies won’t take damage from grenades. He wanted to show a video today but Square Enix refused.

If gameplay is ready to be shown, then the game is making progress. Hopefully we will see more of the game in action around E3 and other events throughout 2017.

XSEED Responds to Ys VIII Getting Localized by NIS America

When it was announced NIS America was going to localize and publish the title Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana for the PS4/PS Vita/PC hours ago, many were confused. XSEED is the publisher that normally localizes games in the Ys series and many are interested in XSEED’s response to the news. It seems that they are okay with it, as Tom (PR Manager of XSEED) gave the following statement on official XSEED Forums.

There’s no need to worry about us: we’re doing just fine. The reason you haven’t heard much from us lately is because we’ve been busy finishing up big projects like Fate/Extella, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, Akiba’s Beat, Trails of Cold Steel II, and Trails in the Sky the 3rd, all of which are massive projects that ate up months of time for each of us, and most of which are only just now starting to wind down.
We certainly would’ve loved to work on Ys 8 ourselves, but Falcom made a business decision to work with NISA on it, which we respect. We wish our friends at NIS America much success with this release, and I’ll tell you right now, I’ll certainly be preordering a copy. 😉
-Tom

It’s clear that they were just busy with a number of projects currently and are working hard to get those finished before working on other localization’s, so it is understandable they weren’t able to work on Ys 8 this time out. Even though this doesn’t help people cope with fears of the localized script not matching up with prior Ys releases, I’m positive NIS America will release an example of current localization work to ease fan’s concerns in the future.

2D Platformers based on feature films aren’t anything new, as the 16-Bit Era was flooded with them. Disney was the king with this. They had talented developers working on projects like Aladdin (Capcom & Virgin Interactive) for the Super Nintendo and Genesis, games based off TV shows (Goof Troop, Ducktails, Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck) developed by Capcom and many more.
One such platform was Virgin Interactive’s The Lion King for the SEGA Genesis and Super Nintendo. Does this game hold up today? YouTube user implantgames released a video (which you can watch above this text) answering this question. I wanted to make a post about this video due to not only enjoying his content but also from how in-depth he is when talking about the game’s history and reception.

Disgaea 5 Complete (Nintendo Switch) – May 23rd Release Date Confirmed

MotweraGamingLeave a Comment

NIS America is working hard on bringing the iconic series Disgaea to Nintendo platforms through a definitive version of the latest game in the franchise. We covered about this in the past but one major bit of news that came from today’s recent NIS Press Event is that it will see a May 23rd release. While that is two months after the Switch launch, it will be a great title leading into the summer months where releases like Splatoon 2 will come out.
It’s great seeing NIS America venture to other platforms and supporting Nintendo with a few titles. We will cover more on Disgaea 5 Complete as we get closer to it’s launch.

One of the newest announcements from the recent NIS Press Event was Culdcept Revolt for the Nintendo 3DS. This strategy, board and card game hybrid offers a fun adventure that can appeal to many gamers of all kinds. Outside of a revival trailer and tentative ‘Summer 2017’ release window, not much was shared about the game but it will likely make a great addition to the 3DS library of software later this year. This is one of three games NIS America is releasing on Nintendo platforms this year, cementing support for Nintendo’s family of systems.

The Ys VIII series is infamous for offering quality action combat, enjoyable story telling and large worlds to explore. With the latest released, Falcom produced a quality title many gamers in Japan greatly enjoyed but gamers in western regions were left out of the fun. NIS America (and Altus to help with Europe distribution) announced that they are localizing the game for a Fall 2017 release!

NIS America is happy to announce our partnership with Nihon Falcom to bring Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA to North America and Europe in Fall 2017 for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®Vita as both a physical and digital release, as well as on Steam®.We are also proud to announce that the game will have dual audio (English and Japanese) as well as in-game text in French.

There, he and the other shipwrecked passengers he rescues form a village to challenge fearsome beasts and mysterious ruins on the isolated island. Amidst this, Adol begins to dream of a mysterious blue-haired maiden living in an unknown world. Join Adol as he unravels the riddle of the cursed isle and the blue-haired maiden Dana in Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana!
