[RUMOR] – NES Classic Mini Ceases Production in Nordic Countries

While evidence is present indicating this IS happening, I listed this story as a rumor due to information changing/being added to make the story false or altered. We will report more on this as the story develops but please don’t take this as Nintendo ceasing production of NES Classic Mini worldwide. Wait for an official statement from Nintendo before you start thinking that. You can read the full story below.

NES Classic Mini is a small console that has a large demand. Many want one for it’s low price, retro appeal and collection of classic NES games built within it. But if you live in a Nordic location, it might be ending production soon. Reported on NeoGaf by Roarer (who works at retail chains within Nordic Countries), he stated the following.

Nintendo’s systems always have some interesting history behind them and the N64 is no exception to this rule. Going through many delays and hardware add-ons that became vaporware, it’s a console with quite the history. Did You Know Gaming took some time to discuss some key bits of history behind this iconic Nintendo console and I highly recommend you give the video a watch. As someone who greatly enjoys the titles that released on the console, I learned a lot by watching this video.

With the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some trivia, secrets, Easter eggs and history of the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 was Nintendo’s third home console for the international market, and was home to some of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, including Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Code-named Project Reality, and originally titled the Ultra 64, the Nintendo 64’s launch was delayed several times until 1996. The system competed primarily with disc-based systems such as the PlayStation and the Sega Saturn, which many believe played a hand in the consoles sub-par sales. Through our analysis of the system’s history, the gameplay of its games and their beta builds, we hope to bring you some little-known facts of the N64.

Nintendo is making the Switch but many are wondering how backward compatibly is going to work on the platform. The publisher is known for offering BC support for past systems with the Wii supporting GameCube games and Wii U supporting Wii games. Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima gave a comment addressing this concern stating that while BC isn’t on the table, support for Wii U/Wii controllers could happen in the future.
So while it is a shame we cannot play games like Mario 3D World on the Switch via BC support, at the very least we might be able to use the Wii U Pro Controller at some point in the future. You can find the official quote Tatsumi Kimishima provided at the above IGN video at the 1:22 Minute mark.

Luigi’s Mansion Arcade – SEGA Bringing Nintendo/Capcom Arcade Title to the West!

Luigi had a few haunting adventures on the GameCube and Nintendo 3DS but many western gamers never checked out his arcade spook before. Capcom developed the title and it was well received by gamers in Japan. SEGA took note of this and is publishing/releasing the arcade unit in North America/Europe in various locations.

Guide clumsy Luigi through huge ghost-infested mansions on an action-packed ghost hunt. Flash your Strobulb at the ghosts to stop them in their tracks and use the Poltergust 5000 to vacuum up the stunned ghosts energy. Once the number above the ghosts head reaches zero, he goes bye-bye!
Armed with the ghost-sucking Poltergust 5000 and other new gadgets, not only will you have to capture ghosts, but also solve puzzles and battle monster sized bosses. Can you and Luigi build up the courage to save the day?

Arcade games are rare in the west currently, so hearing a recent one from Japan is getting localized is exciting news. More interesting is that SEGA is helping to make it happen; another example of the publisher working with Nintendo on projects (one more direct example if SEGA co-developing F-Zero GX with Amusement Visions on the Nintendo GameCube).

Yooka-Laylee isn’t just offering 3D platforming action but multiplayer support as well. By visiting one of the NPC’s in the game world, you can take on optional mini games alone or with some buddies. Similar to the mini-games from Donkey Kong 64 or the wealth of modes present in Conkers Bad Fur Day (N64 version), you will have a large selection of modes to pick from.
One such mode is called ‘Glaciators’ and you can see the mode in action via the above video captured by IGN. It looks like fun and I encourage you watch the above video to learn more about the modes gameplay.

Ultra Street Figher II on Switch – 1st Person Mode Confirmed & Explained

Ultra Street Fighter II isn’t just another port of the iconic Street Fighter II but also contains a special new mode. Taking advantage of the Joy Con controllers, a first person mode is going to be included in the game and it finally got explained recently due to box art being released.

First, it’s now officially confirmed that Ultra Street Fighter II will have a new first-person mode. This was originally teased in the game’s debut trailer last month. It’s a unique game mode called “Unleash! Ha”DO”ken”, and is specialized for use with the Joy-Con controllers in a first-person view.
To further explain the name, “hadoken” is 波動拳 in Japanese. For this mode, Capcom has removed the 動 and replaced it with “Do”, making it 波Do拳. We don’t know how the mode’s name will be handled in the English version, but it’s almost like a neat little play on words.
A screenshot on the box has a timer and seems to show multiple Shadaloo Soldiers. This is speculation, but perhaps it’s a mode in which you hold the Joy-Con and literally shoot hadoken, sort of like a rail shooter.

As Nintendo Everything stated, it seems that you will be using Hadoken attacks to fend off soldiers using motion controls, which is a nice way to take advantage of the Switch’s unique features while not distracting from the main package (2D brawling combat). You can read more about the art collection that will be within the game and my by reading the original story from Nintendo Everything.

For decades, The Legend of Zelda series has been recognized as a trailblazer in game design that has influenced countless other games and developers. The latest game in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U systems, introduces wide-ranging changes that break with many of the traditional conventions of the franchise. The panel will provide an in-depth look at how these convention-breaking changes were implemented.
The panel will take place two days before Nintendo Switch, Nintendo’s new home system, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launch. For those who are not attending GDC, a video of the panel will be available at http://www.gdcvault.com the following week.

This is great news and people will get a better idea on how it released on the Switch, what went into the development, how was the open world created and how did the team maintain the Zelda spirit in this new adventure for Link.

SEGA promise that more news on Sonic’s upcoming projects will be releasing soon but many are wondering when we will see the news.
