Green of Gaming: Legend of Zelda (Breath of the Wild Kiosk Impressions – Theme Color)
The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s most profitable and prolific franchises in terms of popularity and critical reception, it has spawned numerous titles, spinoffs and other mediums all around. Like many franchises that follow the trilogy pillar, the first game is usually good but not great, then the sequel follows up and it becomes even better than expected, the third ramps it up even further. Well, The Zelda series has been kinda weird with the main-line series time gaps between the 2nd and 3rd installment, among the handheld and spinoff titles.
Then later on, comes in the Nintendo 64, with an open-ended title like no other on the system for the series, Ocarina of Time, much like Super Mario 64, this one really pushes the system to it’s limits and explores new territories that the series hasn’t done before in the earlier games. Hath come the later eras with more great and dividing entries, especially Wind Waker, you should know by now that Nintendo is very meticulous about their franchises and having Zelda in their category is no exception.
After the long-awaited Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I had to wonder, as someone completely new to the series, it was only a matter of time to finally say some of the impressions I had shortly playing the demo at the Nintendo Booth Store Kiosk (a few times).

Constructor HD now coming “Later This Summer” (Release Problems)
Fans of the original Constructor are happy about the forthcoming of the Constructor HD Remake, although delays have been plagued for this one long-anticipated and undercovered remake. Fans, prepare to be disappointed yet again, because the official page ran by System 3, has concluded that they are facing issues with other games related to the genre conflicting with the sales among the retailers that the physical release of Constructor HD is coming to Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch (which was said to be even more later). They said that the biggest hurdle is retailers, especially in the USA, are not confident about the release of the game where System 3 claims that there’s not much to be able to do in this situation. However, in order to remedy the long waiting period of this remake, System 3 has revealed more content for the fans eager to see and enjoy. Here is a quote of what those content are with a video provided above:
In order to shorten the waiting period, a few of the Undesirables were presented today. These figures can entrust the player to disturb competitors. So you can go back to hippies, killer clowns, ghosts, chattering craftsmen, psychos, gangsters, thieves and even Hitmans.

[LINKED] Time: 2.3 Million NES Classic Units Sold, According to Nintendo
Nintendo’s global sell-in figure for the NES Classic is now officially in the millions.
According to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé, the total global sell-in for Nintendo’s pint-sized version of its 1980s Nintendo Entertainment System is 2.3 million. The last official figure we’ve seen arrived several months ago, when the company said it had sold 1.5 million NES Classic units worldwide. At that point, the presumption was that the system would continue to be sold indefinitely.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 Rated by Korean Game Ratings Board
It has been recently revealed that a new Mega Man collection (follow up to the original Mega Man Legacy Collection) has been listed in the Korean Game Ratings Board as “Rockman Legacy Collection 2” for PC, PS4 and Xbox One as of today, although we do not have information on whether it is coming to the Nintendo 3DS or Switch later on. The listing reveals that this collection sequel will contain Mega Man 7, 8, 9 and 10 with the same enhancements and additional content that the original Legacy Collection have received in the past with all infamous glitches and tricks intact for the most authentic Mega Man experience for those looking to play them on current-gen system officially. We’ll see when Capcom comes in and announce it, guessing around in the earliest of May, stay tuned.

More rumors about Mario x Rabbids RPG
It’s been rumored for months now that Ubisoft is developing a Mario and Rabbids RPG crossover. This sounds like one of the most strangest collaborations out there but for a while we haven’t heard much about it until this past week. Emily Rogers has been posting some new info about the game on her website.
Question: Wait, are the rumors about a Rabbids x Mario crossover actually true?
As I wrote in a previous blog post, the official title is “Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle”. The aesthetics and art style remind me a tiny bit of Super Mario 3D World. It has colorful graphics, and it has humor that you wouldn’t typically see in a traditional Mario game.
Here’s why I’m expecting this game to be good.
- Ubisoft wants Mario + Rabbids to grow into a successful franchise. But it can’t become a respectable franchise unless Kingdom Battle is well-received by both critics and fans.
- The reputation of the Mario brand is also at stake. Nintendo won’t let just any company develop and publish games based around Mario unless they’re confident in the team and the concept. Remember, this is the same Nintendo who rejected Vicarious Vision’s proposals to add Princess Peach, Kirby, and Star Fox in Skylanders.
Here’s my theory on why this Mario + Rabbids game even exists.
With casual gamers abandoning consoles for mobile devices, Ubisoft was quickly running out of ways to keep the Rabbids brand relevant. Rabbids hasn’t been a relevant brand since the Wii and DS years (2006 – 2012).
Also, keep in mind that Rabbid games have declined in quality since 2009’s Rabbids Go Home (78 on Metacritic) and 2006’s Rayman Raving Rabbids (76 on Metacritic). For example, Rabbids Land received mixed reviews on Wii U (52 on Metacritic). Rabbids Travel in Time also received mixed reviews on the Nintendo 3DS (55 on Metacritic).
How do you re-energize a brand that is slowly fading away into irrelevance? By attaching the Rabbids brand to an even stronger brand: Super Mario.
If you glance over at Nintendo’s history, they worked on a crossover franchise with Sega called Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. Sega is the publisher of that series. Nintendo has also worked on a crossover game with Atlus called Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. So it was only a matter of time until Nintendo collaborated with Ubisoft, one of their most loyal partners, on a crossover game.
Question: Were you joking on Twitter when you said Princess Peach has a gun in the heavily rumored Rabbids game?
They’re not realistic guns, they don’t shoot bullets. They are sci-fi cartoonish guns that shoot lasers, energy beams, and things of that nature. Characters can even have arm cannons ala Mega Man/Metroid. The game isn’t trying to be edgy like Shadow the Hedgehog. It’s meant to be super wacky in a cartoonish Looney-Tunes sort of way.
As I mentioned yesterday, the art style and aesthetics are similar to Super Mario 3D World but more detailed.
Question: Is there anything new that you can tell us about the Mario x Rabbids crossover?
The playable characters in “Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle” don’t look anything like the plastic figures in the picture below.
Question: Can you give us more info on the Rabbids game?
I’ll throw you guys one LAST bone.
“Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle” has eight playable characters — including Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi — and they each have their own sci-fi weapons, laser guns, arm cannons, etc. But you don’t control the characters — you control Tuttorio, a small floating dish, to guide them through the worlds. There is also co-op multiplayer.
At first when I heard about the idea of these two franchises crossing over I thought it was a terrible idea since I’ve grown tired of the Rabbids and didn’t want to see them anywhere near Mario & co. Now all the information that we’ve gotten has caught my attention and I actually want to see more of this game. It’s so crazy and wacky that it just seems like kinda thing the Mario series needs along with Odyssey after playing it safe for the last few years.
Plus does this idea really seem too out there? May I remind you that one of the most popular RPG franchises is a crossover with Disney and Square Enix characters. Or how about the fact that one of the most anticipated games of the year is a fighting game with Marvel and Capcom characters. It just seems like anything is possible. Oh well E3 is around the corner and I’m positive that we’ll be seeing this at Nintendo’s presentation.

‘New’ Nintendo 2DS XL Announced – $149.99 Price Point, July Launch, Amiibo Support
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lxNHhgMuTg
The Nintendo 3DS has gotten a lot of revisions over the years. From the original design that wasn’t the best for shooter-intensive games to the most recent revision that added the C-Stick and faster processing power, Nintendo has taken the 3DS brand into far places. Despite the launch of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo still has plans for the 3DS family of systems, thus launching the ‘New’ Nintendo 2DS this summer. Releasing on July 28th at the retail price of 149.99$, it is more or less a ‘New’ 3DS XL without the 3D Support. Full Nintendo press release can be found below for further information.

I uh don’t know what to make of this to be honest. With what’s coming out this year all the signs seem to have been pointing that the 3DS was on it’s last legs but this just came out of nowhere.

Sonic Forces – Classic Sonic Gameplay (Green Hill Zone) Footage
So Sonic Forces is confirmed to have three gameplay styles, with two being known. Modern Sonic retaining the core gameplay we’ve seen since Unleashed and Generations while the Blue Blur’s Classic counter part is returning for some retro-action fun. A new style is also going to be present but we know nothing about that currently. We got a taste of Classic Sonic in Forces via recent Nintendo Direct. Today, SEGA of Europe released (what I assume based on the resolution and frame rate) direct-feed footage of the PS4/Xbox One/PC version of Forces with Classic Sonic running through Green Hill Zone.
The footage looks good visually and it mirrors the classic-look perfectly…but from this early footage I feel a bit worried. Level design doesn’t look that impressive and the placement of level objects (springs and speed boosters) doesn’t reflect on the level designs we saw in the Classic Stages in Generations. It still looks fun and little things seem to be improved; Sonic builds up speed when he rolls (unlike in Generations) and the less-busy presentation allows you to be more focused on the level itself.
Hopefully other Classic levels offer the vast paths and set-pieces we saw in the Classic Levels in Generations but we have to see what happens as we get closer to release. Stay tuned for further information.
